Sheikh Zayed - Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi

One afternoon, me and my Tokina AT-X Pro SD 12-24mm F4 (IF) DX decided to capture the Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi, here are the results :-)

Here are some photos taken in the night some months ago.
Entering the courtyard ...

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (Arabic: مسجد الشيخ زايد) in Abu Dhabi is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and the eighth largest mosque in the world.
It is named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and the first President of the United Arab Emirates, who is also buried there.
The mosque was opened for worship since Eid Al Adha , December 2007.
Yes, they loan you an Abaya (Black cloak) and a Hijab (Head scarf) as well. For the blokes, if you come in pants or jeans, you won't have to wear the white robe.

On all days, except Fridays, you can get a really good guided tour by an Emirati guide (Free!), after 10am each day. On this particular day, we just walked around ourselves.

The area between the courtyard and the prayer rooms ...

A couple more shots :-)

And a parting shot ...
