Leonardos Wine Loft - Waldorf Salad, Jalan Bangkung

Opening Hours: Daily, 5pm till late

Azman, the personable manager at newly opened Leonardos (Located where The Attic used to be, above Jalan Bangkung, not far from Cava and Opus), highly recommended this shaved turnip and green apple salad, the Waldorf. EXCELLENT! $24

Mamma Mia pizza , $30 - Nice spanish-style jamon and rocket over the top, but the base was too dry. Chef Max did offer to re-do the dish, but we had finished half of it by then, and were rather stuffed. No problem, matey... we will be back!

Cheese and wine anyone? This is an exquisite combo ... Fruit cheese (Looks like peaches or apricots), and some French red (Louis Jadot 2005, Bourgogne Pinot Noir @ RM$160). Thanks to TC for introducing me to good-value french reds this week, and Azman @ Leonardos for helping select this bottle.

Describes this wine as ... Clear ruby. Red cherry fruit and a touch of earth on the nose and palate; nicely balanced with fresh acidity and smooth tannins; alcoholic content is rationally restrained at 12.5%. Not the most complex or exciting Burgundy, but well balanced and a good example of basic red Burgundy style at an affordable price.
