Wah Juan, Tanjung Aru in Kota Kinabalu - Favourite Kon Loh Mee!

Add: Kedai Kopi Wah Juan @ Jalan Besar, Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

On my last day in KK ... P, J and babs (Check out proud daddy in the 2nd photo below) in tow took me out for a final blitz on the city's finest culinary centres!

Mr Chef wondering why this strange man was taking a photo of him!

Pale looking, but oh so VERY delicious! Also known locally as Pork Mixed Noodles! I prefer calling it ... Kon Loh Mee :-)
BEWARE! Portions are small, despite the price-tag being RM$4.50, but you pay for quality! And be prepared to wait, chef is very methodical and takes his time. Yummmm....

Lovely meats...

Even the soup is delicious ... this IS possibly one of my fave makan places in fabulous KK!

ps - BeautifulKK.com has a great writeup on this very popular eatery ...
Tanjung Aru area is probably one of the oldest suburbs of Kota Kinabalu. Lies just 10 minutes away on foot from the Terminal 2, the old International Airport of Kota Kinabalu. Tanjung Aru used to be a trendy township. During the colonial time this was where the British Crown housed their civil servants. Today these housing has been demolished for new development, and just a few of these houses survived, which would be good for historical conservation. Tanjung Aru township consists of a post office, a police station, a small market in the centre and a few blocks of shoplots. This is also where the popular Daily Express newspaper printing factory is located. More than a dozen eateries operate at Tanjung Aru, which cater for the many government and private offices around this area.
Of all these kopitiams at Tanjuna Aru township, Wah Juan Kopitiam would no doubt be the most popular. Wah Juan Kopitiam opens day and night, but what people come for, especially KK Lites, is the pork mixed noodle. This tasty mouth watering pork mixed noodle is only available in the morning, from 7 am to 11 am. At times one must be prepared to wait for a table, which can take up to almost half an hour long, but the faithful customers are always seen patiently happy waiting for their table.
The pork mixed noodle serves here is among one of the top five in Kota Kinabalu on the pork mixed noodle category. The special tasty dry noodles served here is of colourless gravy instead of the usual dark sauce gravy. The pork mixed that comes with pork’s intestine, ear, stomach and tongue, is of very good quality stuffs, no wonder customers always come back for more. For soup one can try out the crunchy beef balls on plain soup. After 11 am the chef will cook some nice simple Chinese cuisine for the lunch time crowds.
