La La Chong @ Ara Damansara

Lala Chong @ Ara Damansara (The new estate on the opposite side of the highway, across from Saujana - En route to the old Subang Airport).
Was recently invited for a work dinner with some customers and colleagues at this famous eatery, and the first dish (Fat Tiu Cheong aka Buddha Jump Over the Wall) was pretty expensive ... as were some of the other fish and lobster dishes. All washed down with copious amounts of Johnny Walker Gold Label ... Overall, a good meal!
What's that you ask? Wikipedia has the answer...
Buddha jump over the wall is an umbrella term for a type of highly complex Chinese soup or stew consisting of many ingredients of non-vegetarian origins and requiring one to two full days to create.
The name of the dish reflects the appeal of the soup. It is said to be so enticing that even a vegetarian monk (Buddha) himself could not restrain himself and would sneak out of the monastery (literally "jump over the wall") to steal a taste.
A typical recipe includes many ingredients including quail eggs, bamboo shoots, scallop, sea cucumber, abalone, shark fin, chicken, Jinhua ham, pork tendon, ginseng, mushrooms, and taro. When served in restaurants, the more expensive ingredients are emphasized to justify the lofty price normally charged for this soup.

Ps. A bit of history about Mr.Lala from New Straits Times ...

Yim Sie Chong, at the age of 39, is the owner of two seafood restaurants named La La Chong -- one across the road from Terminal 3, in Subang, and the other in Ara Damansara, Subang.
He was anointed La La Chong when his friends found that his interpretation on how to prepare mussels was second to none; the thick gravy served with his signature dish made his clients order plate after plate. Today, La La Chong is a name that is as famous as his dish.
